Our History

In 2014 Pastor Cory Skipper heard a calling to ministry while serving at a student Summer camp.  After having this calling confirmed by a few men in his life a mentor told him the next step was to go to seminary to get equipped.  After finishing his undergraduate degree at The University of New Mexico Cory and his wife Sarah moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 2018.  In 2020 Cory graduated with his Master of Theological Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  After completing his degree Cory and his wife wanted to come back to Albuquerque.  Cory also was looking for a residency to join.  Three days later Pastor Jared Bridge with Anchor Church North called and offered a church planting residency to Cory.  Cory And Sarah stepped out in faith and accepted the offer. Over the next 2 years as God grew Cory’s calling to ministry God also placed a calling to plant a church on Cory and Sarah.  In 2022 the core team was started for Anchor Church East and in the fall of 2023 God provided a building for the church at 3801  San Mateo. Cory and the core team renovated the building and then launched the church on Easter of 2024.

Be Yourself

Wear something modest and comfortable. Come ready to worship and dig deep into God’s word. If you have children, our check-in process is fast and easy. Coming to church about 5-10 minutes early will give you plenty of time to grab a good seat.

Our worship experience is fun and contemporary. When you come to worship at Anchor Church you will appreciate the authenticity of the band and will find yourself singing songs you may be familiar with. If you don’t know the songs, the worship leader makes it easy to follow and sing along, worshiping God together.
